WBER is a listener supported radio station in Rochester, NY owned by Monroe #1 BOCES. This is just a concept site that I had done after seeing what they had for their current site. My goal was to clean up the clutter from the site and make it easier to read.
First thing I did when I was coming up with this concept was a color scheme. The WBER site, at the time of the concept, was very dark and seemed to be busier than it actually was; I thought that a color scheme change would help this in a way.
After deciding on a color scheme, I stripped the content down to the bare minimum (for the main page). I think that WBER would benefit by providing less on first glance but more when a user wants to get it.
The final thing to do for the concept was to take my design from Photoshop and turn it into a web page. As I always try to do, I made a standards compliant, XHTML valid and CSS valid page with a couple of little quirks. If you have Javascript enabled you can notice I created a border around the text in the header. This allows the text to be selectable while still having a finished look and also making this text indexable.
